FAQs

Appointment

Do I need an appointment?

Yes, appointments are necessary for all of our services.  Call (716) 692-3D4D (3343) or (716) 444-5555 to schedule an appointment.

Who?

What do I need to do prior to my appointment?

  • When arriving at Baby's Bungalow, please bring an Ultrasound Picture from your Doctor OR an appointment card showing that you are receiving care.

  • If you are coming in for a Gender Determination Package, please arrive with a FULL bladder. Please drink double the amount of hydrating fluids (water) for 48 hours prior to, and leading up to your appointment time.

  • If you are coming in for the At First Glance, Peek-A-Boo or our Twice As Nice Packages, please drink double the amount of hydrating fluids (water) for 48 hours prior to, and leading up to your appointment time. When you are "hydrated" the baby can produce more amniotic fluid which will then give us better 3D pictures and 4D real time imaging of your baby.

Who will be performing my 3D/4D HD-Live Ultrasound? Is she qualified to perform this ultrasound?

The most important thing to remember is to ask who is performing your ultrasound!  At Baby's Bungalow, we are ADAMANT on ONLY employing Certified & Registered Ultrasonographer's to perform our Ultrasounds. We will gladly show you our Certifications and Registrations that we have worked so hard to achieve.

Are you able to tell the gender/sex of the baby?

Yes, as early as 13 weeks gestation. All of our Registered & Certified Ultrasonographers have a 100% accuracy rate from 13 weeks 4 days gestation and a 99.99% accuracy rate from 13 weeks 0 days gestation.

What if I don't want to know the gender/sex of the baby? Can I keep it a secret?

Don't worry your secret is SAFE with me! I will however recommend less scanning of the fetal genital region, just in case you have an overzealous friend, in-law, aunt or Hubby who just cant wait and tries to steal a peek.

What is the difference between 3D and 4D HD- Live ultrasound?
In essence, 4D is 3D in motion. 4D imaging was so named when it became possible to use ultrasound to obtain 3-Dimensional images in motion, as real time live-action videos. The 4th dimension is time.  3D ultrasound uses the same technology as basic 2D ultrasound except that multiple angles are used, rendering a 3D image. 4D rendering occurs many times per second, giving a video effect. HD & HD-Live are High Definition scanning. Any questions? Give us a call and we will answer all your questions.

How much does it cost?
Please refer to our Ultrasound Prices page for available packages. ** Ultrasound Packages are subject to NYS sales tax at 8%

(Niagara County)**We accept Cash, Visa, MasterCard, Debit Cards.

Is Baby's Bungalow Ultrasounds covered by Insurance?
No.  Elective ultrasound procedures are currently not covered by health insurance companies.

Does this take the place of an Ultrasound at my doctor's office?
No.

A woman seeking an elective prenatal 3D 4D HD-Live ultrasound with Baby's Bungalow must already be receiving treatment with a healthcare provider for prenatal care.  Baby's Bungalow requires that all clients have documentation of their dating ultrasound and/ or first trimester NT/NB Screening Ultrasound. We DO NOT perform medical ultrasounds at Baby's Bungalow.  Baby's Bungalow is a Division of Upstate Ultrasound, Inc. medical exams ARE performed through Upstate Ultrasound, Inc. please contact our office for details.

How far along should I be before I have a 3D/4D HD-Live Ultrasound?
If you plan on having only one 3D/4D HD-Live Ultrasound examination, we would recommend having the examination performed between the 28th and 34th week of the pregnancy. We schedule sessions up thru the end of the 40th week. We can never guarantee the quality or number of images obtained. The ability to produce higher quality 3D/4D HD-Live images tends to go down past the 34th week due to the fetal head presentation engaging into the lower pelvic canal, the large size of the baby, amniotic fluid volume going down, and other factors, such as the placenta, create a difficult canvas to work with. I will say though, if the conditions are right, the pictures will be spectacular!

Can I bring my family and friends?
YES, absolutely! Please bring whomever you would like to share this wonderful experience with. Babies and children are also always welcome at our facility, after all this is meant to be a family experience. We can comfortably accommodate 10+ people on our luxurious leather sofas. More than 12 guests may come with you but this gives you a general idea of the amount of seating in the room. We can work to accommodate others. Our seating is specifically arranged so that everyone in your party will have an excellent view of our large 50" flat screen TV and the 3D/4D HD-Live images of the baby.

Will I always get a beautiful picture of my baby?
Usually, however if the baby is persistently facing down (towards your spine), or snuggling into the placenta it may be difficult to see the baby's face. Amniotic fluid volume (Amount of amniotic fluid surrounding the baby) also greatly affects visualization and quality of the images.
First, we will try repositioning the Mom, ask her to walk around, etc. to see if we can obtain a better position. If we are unable to obtain images during the session, we will schedule a repeat scan on a weekday at the earliest convenience to the patient and within scheduling guidelines of Baby's Bungalow to try and obtain an optimal image.

At Baby's Bungalow we cannot guarantee that the images will be similar to those you might have seen elsewhere or even look similar to other images produced at our facility. Remember that we are at the baby's "mercy". We will always try to meet your expectations but we cannot guarantee that the baby or the conditions surrounding the baby will allow us. Every baby and every mother-to-be scans differently.  I can say though, that I promise to make every effort to obtain the best possible images of whatever parts of the baby that can be seen!

What can I do to help Baby's Bungalow achieve the Ultimate 3D/4D Experience for me?
1. Please make sure you have had an early dating or First Trimester Screening ultrasound through the guidance of your healthcare provider before coming to an appointment with Baby's Bungalow.

2. Bring an ultrasound picture, report  or an appointment card from healthcare providor to show you are receiving prior prenatal care.

3. Drink plenty of fluids throughout your pregnancy and especially 2 days leading up to your scheduled Ultrasound Session. This allows the baby and Mom-To-Be effectively produce more amniotic fluid, which in turn increases the likelihood of better quality images.

4. Arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled session to complete our forms.

How long does the 3D/4D HD-Live Ultrasound take?
Depending on the session you choose, the 3D/4D HD-Live Ultrasound session will last between 15 minutes to an hour.  Please allow extra time for you to complete forms and for us to finalize your DVD and print your photos. (What a great time to browse through our boutique)

What kind of Ultrasound equipment do you use to perform the 4D Ultrasounds?

We use three machines, the 2017 GE Voluson E6 BT17 HD-Live machine, 2018 GE Voluson S8 HD-Live machine, and the 2016 GE Voluson I, to complete all Ultrasound examinations. Only the GE equipment generates 3D/4D HD-Live images with amazing clarity and gives you the same clarity with 3D/4D HD-Live imagery of your baby in motion.

Is 2D, 3D & 4D HD-Live ultrasound safe? Are there any risks to my baby or myself?
Routine scanning of all pregnancies is not only the norm in the United States; it is considered the Standard of Care. Studies extending over 40 years have found that ultrasound has NOT been shown to cause any harm to mother or baby.
